VALDORIA — The Republic of Valdoria was formally declared this week, joining the small and stubborn family of the world's micronations.
Unlike most, Valdoria makes no pretence of recognition. "We are a cultural and artistic project with unusually good paperwork," a spokesperson for the Ministry of Media said. "Everything we issue says so, in writing, on the document itself."
The Republic's founding purpose is environmental: the Ministry of Environment will advocate for the hyper-arid ecosystems of the Nubian Desert, and every citizen is invited to make a personal environmental pledge upon joining.
Citizenship is limited to 500,000 — a cap written into the Constitution and enforced by the national database.
